1 Timothy 6:11-12
[11] But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. [12] Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.
Man of God.
It's expected that men will work, provide for the family, handle repairs, and take charge of leading the family through life's challenges. Those responsibilities are perfect for us. The Lord rewards us with fulfillment when we complete a task or overcome a difficult situation.
Speaking from my own experience, seeing the fruit of my labor is very rewarding. I know based on the Lord's design for my life and my marriage, this is my role, and I want to do my best.
But as a man of God, we need to keep our ear to the ground. Look for the breadcrumbs.
God's leading and His will are unlike anything we could plan for ourselves. Even though these things may be a man's responsibility, the Lord can completely change what that looks like in each of our lives.
Just because the first 25 years of your career were spent as a mechanic doesn't mean the next 25 will be the same. One day you're a mechanic, the next the Lord is calling you into ministry and into completely relying on Him for financial support.
That kind of change will challenge everything we think a man should be. Maybe you won't bring in any money for a season. Maybe you won't be able to fix this situation. Maybe God is trying to push you out of the box you've placed yourself in so you can finally see His will for your life.
A man of God cannot rely only on his own strength, skills, or ability to provide. Your relationship with Him is the only way you will be able to take this kind of blow, stand back up, and get ready for something new. That is what it means to keep your ear to the ground and stay close to the Lord.
Leaning into Him and seeking His way forward is the only real plan for success. God sees you. You are not alone.
Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:13-15
[13] And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, [14] that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. [15] For, At just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords.
