“A Warrior’s Call to Walk Humbly Through Affliction”

Painting of Jesus gently carrying a weary young man through a rocky mountain path at sunset. The man appears physically weak and unconscious, while Jesus walks forward with calm strength. The scene is lit by a warm, golden sky breaking through dark, moody clouds, symbolizing hope and divine support in suffering.
Even when our strength is gone, God carries us with purpose. We may feel broken, but we are still called.

Isaiah 38:15

[15] But what could I say? For he himself sent this sickness. Now, I will walk humbly throughout my years because of this anguish I have felt.

As I am getting through this latest affliction, I am getting encouraging scripture. This whole passage by King Hezekiah is really powerful. He is writing about his thoughts during his sickness and the restoration afterward. This verse is the realization that God's plan never stops. This sickness is part of his life for a reason. Because of his experience with this sickness, "Now, I will walk humbly throughout my years because of this anguish I have felt."

He now praises God every day with a new appreciation for something as simple as not being sick. This opens my eyes. It's so easy to get caught up in the bad feelings of sickness and get lost in self-pity or anguish. As we know, in the life of a believer, nothing is without purpose or wasted. This sickness I'm going through will teach me something if I keep the right perspective. That makes sense, right?

Just because we are sick does not mean our purpose and calling are on hold. It means we are going through the heavy-duty lessons, and the only way we  come out with the Lords "well done" is to remember.

Remember His promises.

Remember, it's all a part of this life.

Remember, He will never give you more than you can handle in His will. Outside of His will, these situations are crushing and scary. In His will, we grow and become wiser by His grace and mercy. Praise God for the opportunity to grow. He must think you are pretty awesome if He knows you can handle all of this and make the right decision. It reminds me of my dad cheering me on at my hockey games. His, "You got it, Kev!" It pumped me up. My dad was someone I looked up to and believed in. If he believes in me, I must be able to. I tried really hard, and sometimes I did great, other time I fell on my face. His encouraging words after were, " Did you give it your best shot? If so, then you have nothing to be ashamed of."

The Lord knows we will fail at times. Your constant trying is your success. Don't give up when it's painful or hard. Lean into your Father, he will walk you through. Amen

Isaiah 38:19-20

[19] Only the living can praise you as I do today. Each generation tells of your faithfulness to the next. [20] Think of it—the Lord is ready to heal me! I will sing his praises with instruments every day of my life in the Temple of the Lord.
