Acts of the Apostles 2:46-47
[46] They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— [47] all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
Breaking bread together. There is something special about sharing a meal with brothers and sisters. I feel like a new level of comfort and closeness is formed over a meal, as well as during the times before and after.
I remember a great evangelist saying he loved breaking bread with people, and he considered it a blessing to watch the food get cold because they were talking about the Lord's work in their lives and praying together. That's amazing.
My wife and I have been convicted of this, and we will start this up again, and once a week, we will invite people over to share a meal and, of course, talk about our lives. I encourage you to slow down your life. Be sure your current pursuit is meaningful. Invite people into your life and encourage them, and they will encourage you in return. Pray openly over everything and often.
I know this is tough, but being busy with work or activities is meaningless. That convicted me, I use that excuse often! I work until 5 pm, and on most nights, we have to be somewhere else shortly after getting home.
No more! We will make the time. This is where we are nourished spiritually and help one another grow.
Recently, after having some friends over for a potluck, we prayed for each other, and the next day, one brother was blessed with the money they needed. Our prayers were answered! I'm not sure about you, but to me, that's a miracle. That's our Heavenly Father answering our prayers and blessing us for praying and gathering.
I pray that you make time for this and it becomes a regular blessing in your life. Reach out to new people in the church and assist them as needed. Like all of us, when we were new, there were many questions that needed the Lord's answers and direction.
Christian fellowship and community aren't just nice ideas—they're how we grow together in faith when we break bread together.
May the blessings and fellowship help your faith grow. Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen
Acts of the Apostles 2:43-44
[43] A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. [44] And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.
