Encourage One Another: You Never Know Whose Life You Might Change

Hebrews 10:23-25
[23] Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. [24] Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. [25] And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
These verses sum up my calling and the ministry the Lord has been developing in my life. I really do try to live by these words and encourage one another as the Lord commands. Sometimes I miss opportunities or succumb to the enemy's attacks. One thing that works every time is a brother or sister encouraging and motivating me to do good works. Of course, it depends on the way they speak also. "Kevin, why aren't you doing anything to help, you lazy loaf?" Obviously I'm not going to respond positively.
I want to encourage you to encourage one another. Before I was asked to share a story of a trial in my life, I was encouraged several times by a brother who told me I should give my testimony. Part of living life the way the Lord intended us to is motivating each other toward good works. Sometimes it just takes a little push or a small boost to get someone fully involved. Maybe they are on the fence about attending a men's gathering or retreat, and your encouragement could change their life forever.
Meeting together can mean more than simply attending church. It can mean making time to talk after the service, being intentional about listening, and looking for opportunities to motivate someone in their walk with Christ. A close brother of mine had a new guy cornered after church one Sunday. The guy was trying to leave, but after introducing himself, my brother just kept asking questions. He wasn't letting him escape because my brother understood the assignment.
At first, the new guy brushed off every question with short answers. Then one question hit home. His whole demeanor changed. He lit up, smiled, answered with excitement, and even said, "I look forward to seeing you next Sunday."
Sometimes the Lord gives us opportunities like that because He is watching to see how far we are willing to go to make a genuine connection and motivate a brother or sister toward Christ. There is someone in your path today who needs your encouragement to make the choice to fully surrender to the Lord.
The tough part is, we may never know who it is.
So stay faithful. Encourage one another, love people well, and trust God with the results.

Hebrews 3:13-14
[13] You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. [14] For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
