Isaiah 12:2
“See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”
Today feels different—brighter somehow. Mostly because I have about 50% of my vision back. Praise the Lord! My God gave me a victory - He came to save me.
It started last Friday. I woke up and noticed my vision was blurry. Normally when that happens, a few eye drops clear it right up. But not this time.
Earlier that week, on Tuesday, I developed strange bumps on the left side of my face. Unsightly and uncomfortable. Then a few days later, my vision started to fade—fast. I had to take the day off work and head to urgent care.
After seven long hours bouncing between Kaiser’s finest facilities, I received a diagnosis I didn’t even know was possible: shingles in my eye.
Shingles. In my eye.
That’s when the doctor’s expression turned serious. She told me this could cause permanent damage—and that I might lose my vision.
Suddenly, everything got real.
My wife and I began to pray. Hard. And after what felt like a floodlight interrogation trying to find “any brains behind my eyes,” the doctor said the words we were desperately hoping to hear: “It doesn’t look like there’s any permanent damage—yet.”
A miracle.
Then came the wave of treatments. I think she put a gallon of drops into my eye on the spot and prescribed even more. But my wife and I left that place with something much more powerful than medicine: relief, hope, and the unmistakable peace of knowing that God had shown up again.
God is good. God loves me. He spared me from the lasting hardship of losing vision in one eye.
So if you’re reading this and feeling shaken—my encouragement is this: trust in Him and don’t be afraid. He is still the God who heals. The God who sees. The God who saves.
Praise God for His faithfulness. Amen.
Psalm 62:1–2
“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.”
