From Struggle to Surrender: Trusting God in Hard Times

Illustration of human hands holding a tangled rope while a glowing divine hand reaches down, gently unraveling the rope into a neat coil, symbolizing trusting God in hard times.
When life feels tangled, we can rest in the hands of the One who brings order from chaos. Trusting God in hard times doesn’t remove the struggle—it invites His peace into it.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

I believe the Lord wants to encourage us today.

Trusting God in hard times means letting go of the pressure to perform, to be perfect, or to seek the approval of others. When we truly rest in His promises, we’re reminded that everything we face—every setback, disappointment, or detour—is being used for our good.

Is your job not turning out the way you hoped? Trust that God will use it. Is your marriage a beautiful blessing or a battlefield? He can use that too.

Romans 8:28 reminds us that this promise is for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. So when we put God first, we not only align ourselves with His will, but we also step into His protection. That’s where peace and joy are found—not surface-level happiness, but a deep, sustaining peace that comes only from trusting God in hard times and surrendering to His plan.

As we surrender, our own desires, needs, and expectations begin to fade. That’s not to punish us— but to free us. Free us from chasing things that were never meant to satisfy us. Free us to say, “Here I am, Lord—send me.”

Your past mistakes? God will use them for good. Your failures? Redeemed. Your losses? Transformed.

Even now, even here, even in the midst of what feels heavy— He is working. Trusting God in hard times is not easy, but it is powerful. Because we know He is faithful. And we know He’s working all things together for good.

Amen.

Romans 8:30

“And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.”
