John 3:16
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
This may be the first verse you ever heard as a kid. I know it might be for me. In fact, we hear it so much that sometimes we brush it off. But the Lord recently brought me back to this chapter to show me a deeper view of His heart.
I often talk about how evil and disgusting the world is. I tend to lump a lot into that statement—maybe even some people. And that’s where it can go wrong. God’s love for the world is not limited. It’s not just for the good, the believers, or the ministers. Everyone is included—the murderers, the thieves, the liars, the lowest of the low. God planned and sent His Son to die for everyone’s sins.
I’m sure a lot of you are saying, “Yeah, I know that.” But my question is, do you live it? Do you look at the thief and hate the sin but love the sinner? Do you feel compassion for those who made poor decisions?
The understanding the Lord wants us to have is that those people are loved as much as we are. They are worth the sacrifice of God’s Son just like you and me. That is the true depth of God’s love for the world.
When you look at it this way, all you should feel is love and compassion. We show this by pointing every brother and sister we meet to the truth that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
It’s one of those life-changing beliefs that you can’t keep bottled up. When you grasp the reality of God’s love for the world, it wells up like a spring of living water and overflows to everyone you encounter.
Let it flow. Don’t let insecurities, fears, or the lies of the enemy hold you back. God’s love is so great that everyone can be reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus.
Let your life show them Jesus.
