Peace in Christ: Standing Firm When the World Shakes

A middle-aged man sits on a hospital bed with an open Bible in his lap, eyes closed in peaceful reflection as golden light shines on him, symbolizing finding peace in Christ during life’s crises
True strength is not the absence of trials, but the unshakable peace in Christ that keeps us calm in the crisis.

John 16:33 NLT

[33] I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Peace. What a beautiful thing to experience at the fulfillment of one of God’s promises. That level of peace in Christ just doesn’t exist anywhere else. It’s a mixture of understanding, acceptance, surrender, and, of course, God’s promises.

Imagine a peace so real you feel it changing your mind. Your anxiety is pushed out. Your fear is pushed out. All of it fades in the light of the realization that God has just fulfilled one of His promises. In that moment, you see He is the same God who healed the blind and the lame.

Whom then shall I fear? No one. Nothing.

All that remains is to accept that beautiful gift of peace in Christ and let the world see His light in their darkest moments. When others see someone lying on their deathbed, they see hopelessness and despair. But in your faith, they can see something different—the light of God’s power and love for His children.

Our lives are not bound by the world’s rules and laws. Our lives are dedicated to the One who created the cosmos. The God who formed every being on this rock we call Earth—and who knows each of us by name.

This world does not offer or even understand what true peace is. Their version is a nap without the kids waking you up. But peace in Christ is joy in the face of death, because we know the One who holds both our past and our future. Even a death sentence is not too big for our God to defeat.

We know who will welcome us into paradise when our time comes.

Amen.

Isaiah 26:3-4

[3] You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! [4] Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
