Peace in Surrendering to God’s Plan — Trusting Him When Life Takes an Unexpected Turn

A man sits at a kitchen table praying with his hands clasped over an open Bible after losing his job. A termination letter, work badge, coffee mug, and a framed family photo sit on the table beside him, symbolizing the pressure of providing for his family while he seeks peace and guidance from God.
Losing a job can make the future feel uncertain in an instant. Fear, pressure, and responsibility can weigh heavy on your heart. But instead of falling apart, I chose to seek God first. Peace is found in surrendering to His plan, trusting that He is already working on what comes next. 🙏

Romans 12:12

Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.

Peace.

Finding peace can be extremely hard, or even feel impossible during a course change or a waiting period. I wanted to call it a trial, but it's really not a trial for me at this point. Sure, losing a job is a major thing and should be taken seriously.

It took me a couple of weeks, but I am at peace with my situation. I have had many confirmations that the Lord is doing work in this, and I have been told to rest and wait. This is the opposite of what my flesh wants! I want to get back to work or start making money somehow. It is a daily battle to keep my head and heart right with God and stay in His peace.

I am learning that peace in surrendering to God’s plan doesn’t come naturally. It comes when we choose to trust Him even when our circumstances make us want to take control.

Peace is found in surrender. Peace is found in me letting go of what I think my family and I need.

When you are slapped in the face with a rude awakening like this, remember that in big, tough situations the Lord is doing a big work. Let Him work!

Trust Him to lead you and take you where you're supposed to be. The fear of the unknown is a real problem, and it's amplified when we have a family that's depending on us getting this right. Let that motivate you to be faithful and lean on the promises of the Lord and NOT your own understanding.

Men tend to "strap their boots on" and figure things out by getting to work.

These are the times we need to really buckle down, strap in, hold fast, and trust God.

We cannot afford to do this wrong. Placing our trust in anything other than God is wrong. In doing that, we will miss out on the blessings He has in store for us in His plan. He knows you. He has something perfect lined up for you.

That is where peace in surrendering to God’s plan is found — trusting that He is leading even when the path ahead isn’t clear.

Peace is found in surrender to God's plan and trusting He will not let you down.

WE CAN'T AFFORD TO DO THIS WRONG!

Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.

Psalms 5:11-12

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love.
