Ephesians 6:10-11
[10] A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.[11] Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
The enemy is smart. He will use one person and, in the blink of an eye, challenge everything you’ve clung to. Suddenly, your understanding and beliefs are shaken because of an atrocity. The enemy is wicked and hates good things and good people. That is why we are called to put on the full armor of God Ephesians 6:10-11 and be ready to defend our lives daily.
The Lord has already provided everything we need to deflect and shield ourselves from attacks. Our God is still the same. Our callings are still the same. Our God is still the God of miracles and love. Because of that, the world will not like us. They can’t understand, so they hate. The enemy twists their minds, and the next thing we know, a major tragedy rocks the world.
But here’s the truth: we are all children of God, and all have done evil in His sight. Yet by the grace of God alone, we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus. We accept Him as our Savior, and we are forgiven. That forgiveness gives us a purpose, a calling, and a mission to live out the love of our Heavenly Father.
Even in the darkest times, let’s not forget—the love that sets us free is supposed to flow from us. We are called to hate the sin, not the sinner. I know it is extremely difficult at times. Only in God’s love is that possible. Only with faith and hope can we live in this world, knowing it is not our permanent home, and keep our focus on the Kingdom, bringing as many people home with us as possible.
It takes great faith to look past an evil act and see a deceived, fallen child of God. It takes great faith to remember that even though the enemy tries new tactics, our God still reigns supreme and is unchanging. That’s why Scripture urges us to put on the full armor of God Ephesians 6:10-11—because the battle is daily.
Ephesians 6:13-17 reminds us of the details of this armor:
[13] Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then, after the battle, you will still be standing firm.[14] Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.[15] For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[16] In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[17] Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Stay strong, my brothers and sisters, and wear your armor daily. Stay on your knees in prayer and let these situations inspire love and good—not more evil.
Thank you, Father, for another day. Amen.
