Seeking God’s Direction When He Lets You Choose

I asked God which way to go. His answer was, “Choose.”

Isaiah 55:10-11

[10] “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. [11] It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Yesterday started as just another Wednesday for me. I have a routine set now of making meals for my family, and most of the time, I enjoy it and being creative with it. During the day, I get to spend a lot of time with my children and help with their school. It's definitely not Kevin's ideal job, but I am confident God has a purpose for this.

Around noon, I got a call from my brother from another mother, and he said, "I kind of have a word for you, but it's going to require you to confirm it with God." He knows I take all words before God, but the fact that he emphasized this meant he was having a hard time with it himself.

"I had a noise from underneath my car and I thought about my tie rods. When I had this thought I saw you asking someone to install the tie rods on my car. I don't know if this means you will be working again or what."

It blew my normal Wednesday right out of the water.

After pondering it for a while, I immediately saw the impossibility of it and got excited. You see, I've been here before. I know firsthand this is where my Father does His best work. No vehicle makes it impossible, and being home has created a situation where my family is depending on me to do the things I do.

So I dedicated time to seeking God’s direction after my family left for their activities. I prayed, asking the Lord to give me confirmation of this word or help me understand what it is that He wants me to do. Reading His Word just gave me comfort, and I didn't feel Him pulling me one way or the other, so I just enjoyed the time I had alone with my Father.

Then my brother called me and gave me confirmation of what I was feeling.

God wants me to make a choice.

He is allowing me to make a choice.

So now I have to use the wisdom and understanding the Lord has blessed me with to make the best decision I can. I felt led to share this with you all because of all of the moving parts that came together to bring me to this point.

My brother's discernment of what he saw and the faith it took to pass that along, especially when he was unsure. Then it came time for my obedience to test every word and seek God's clarification or direction. The perfect timing of me being alone so I would have uninterrupted time with the Lord.

In all that, God spoke, and the question was answered.

Sometimes seeking God’s direction doesn't end with Him telling us exactly what to do. Sometimes He has already given us wisdom and understanding, and He allows us to make the choice.

Test every word. Seek God even if it takes longer than you think it should. Sometimes your dedication to seeking the Lord despite the time commitment is part of the test. Share what the Lord puts on your heart. Remember, it's not for you to understand; it's for you to pass along through obedience.

When God gives you something to share, your responsibility is obedience. His Word will accomplish what He intends it to accomplish.

Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen

Mark 16:19-20

[19] When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. [20] And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.
