Serving God Wholeheartedly: Leave It All on the Field.
Galatians 6:9-10[9]
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. [10] Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.
How much time is too much? How much effort is too much? Where do you draw the line when you are serving? Interesting questions, right?
Is it right to have a limit? Based on what I've read, I believe that there is a healthy balance of time, and we see that example from Jesus. He would step away or escape and pray, recharge, then get back out there. Jesus was perfect, yet He didn't heal every person or meet every demand. This example shows that disregarding our health, families, and other responsibilities to serve is not what God wants from us. He calls us to be good stewards of all He's given us. Luckily, I don't think a lot of us have to worry about that.
The main question today is, in the moment you are serving, how much effort are you truly putting in? This is between you and God and something we all need to take seriously. Every time you serve, the Lord expects your absolute best effort, motivated by love. Wholehearted work is what's expected by God! That's what serving God wholeheartedly looks like.
Of course, it won't be easy; it's by design, a sacrifice. As we've learned, true godly love must have sacrifice, and without it, it's not love. This work we do through God's love is what makes a difference and changes hearts.
Truthfully, anyone can help at church. Anyone can help at the nursing homes. Anyone can help someone move. In all we do, we are supposed to stand out from the crowd. We want people to say, "Wow! You are the most helpful and hardworking person I've ever met!" This opens a door for us to glorify our heavenly Father and hopefully make that introduction.
One of my favorite quotes from Ecclesiastes 9:10 is, "whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."
Show up early to help, stay the extra 30 minutes, and don't leave until the job is done. Every time we have the opportunity to work or help, remember you are working beside the Lord.
Serving God wholeheartedly means leaving it all on the field.

[23] Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. [24] Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
