Matthew 25:40 (NLT)
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”
I was watching The Chosen the other night, and there was this powerful scene where Jesus was speaking to a room full of people—including the Pharisees. He spoke these words, and as they sank in, you could actually see the understanding begin to soften their faces. It hit me hard. It brought tears to my eyes.
Matthew 25 is one of those chapters that grabs you. It’s more than a story—it’s a mission. It reminds us that the people around us aren’t there by accident. There are no coincidences in the Kingdom. Every encounter is divine. Every moment is a chance to represent Jesus well—to serve the least of these as if He Himself were standing there.
We’ve all heard it before: “You only get one shot at a first impression.” But in the life of a believer, that impression should reflect the light of Christ. If we don’t stand out or stand up for what we believe, we end up blending in with the noise of the world. That’s not what we were called to do.
That nudge you feel to pay for someone’s groceries? That’s not random. That’s the Holy Spirit reminding you of the least of these. That urge to buy a meal for the firefighters at the next table? That’s a divine opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. And those moments? They’re not just for their benefit—they’re for yours too. Because when you bless others, God always blesses you right back.
We are living in a target-rich environment when it comes to showing the love of Christ. The world is desperate for truth, for kindness, for something real. And we get to be that light. We get to reflect His love in practical ways—especially to those society often overlooks.
When you look into the eyes of a brother or sister in need, imagine the face of Jesus. When you choose to step in with compassion, you’re serving the least of these—but more than that, you're serving Him.
Matthew 25:45–46 (NLT)
“And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
Amen.
