Exodus 14:13-14
[13] But Moses answered, “Don't be afraid! Be brave, and you will see the Lord save you today. These Egyptians will never bother you again. [14] The Lord will fight for you, and you won't have to do a thing.”
If you remember this part of the chapter, the Israelites are being led out of captivity by Moses. I can’t help but smile at these verses, because you can almost sense Moses’ irritation with the people’s lack of faith. They see the king of Egypt approaching and immediately begin crying and complaining.
Moses responds with courage and assurance: “Don't be afraid! Be brave, and you will see the Lord save you today. The Lord will fight for you Exodus 14:13-14.”
Then the Lord Himself speaks and says, “Why do you keep calling out to me for help? Tell the Israelites to move forward.”
No one wants to die in the desert, and with the king’s army hot on their trail, things looked bleak. But this is exactly where faith is tested. Every trial or hardship is an opportunity—either to trust God or to complain. The Israelites saw doom, but Moses saw deliverance. He rested wholeheartedly in the Lord’s promise, believing that the Lord will fight for you Exodus 14:13-14.
In our own dark moments—the times that feel evil and cold—we need to cling to that same truth. This is not the end. This is the moment to prove that your faith is more than words.
We all have a promised land ahead of us. And just like the Israelites, we all face “Egyptians” trying to run us down—whether fear, doubt, or attacks from the enemy. The enemy hates that you’re moving forward with the Lord. He hates that your faith grows stronger through prayer and daily steps of obedience. If you feel the enemy close behind you, remember Moses’ words: “Don't be afraid! Be brave, and you will see the Lord save you today. The Lord will fight for you Exodus 14:13-14.”
We overcome our own “Egyptians” by staying faithful and resting in His promises. Stop standing still, stop only calling for help—move forward. The Lord is always with you, and He will fight for you.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for another day. Help me to trust You completely, to move forward in faith, and to rest in the promise that You fight for me. Amen.
Exodus 14:15-18
[15] The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you keep calling out to me for help? Tell the Israelites to move forward. [16] Then hold your walking stick over the sea. The water will open up and make a road where they can walk through on dry ground. [17] I will make the Egyptians so stubborn that they will go after you. Then I will be praised because of what happens to the king and his chariots and cavalry. [18] The Egyptians will know for sure that I am the Lord.”
