Trust God in the Waiting: Not Every Open Door Is From Him

Man standing at a crossroads between two doors—one open to a bright city representing opportunity and success, the other a closed rustic door marked by a cross symbolizing faith, obedience, and trusting God’s direction.
That open door might look right… but peace comes from the one God is actually leading you to.

Today’s testimony is brought to you by our Heavenly Father.

Today is starting off in a great way. One thing I didn’t anticipate being hard is turning down job offers when I’m actively looking for work. I was asked to come work for a company that has reached out to me before, but this time the offer was different. They were trying to make it more appealing, and I truly appreciate that. They’re kind, genuine people.

But this isn’t what God has for me.

That’s a tough conversation to have, especially when you don’t have a long explanation. All I could really say is that I feel like I’m following where God is leading me.

In a moment of concern, I prayed earnestly and asked the Lord to confirm what I was feeling. The longer I’m in this season, the more I check in to make sure I’m moving the way He wants me to. I asked Him for clarity—maybe a vision, or a word through my wife or a friend—just something to confirm that I was exactly where He wanted me.

About 20 minutes later, a friend texted me… just a Bible verse reference.

That was it.

But it was loud and clear.

What I felt was correct. I needed to respectfully decline the offer and continue to trust God in the waiting.

It’s an awesome feeling knowing that you’re hearing the Lord and walking in His will. But if I’m being honest, it’s also bittersweet—because it means the waiting isn’t over yet.

Still, I will trust God in the waiting.

Just trust in the Lord—He will take care of you. I truly believe that. I’ve seen it firsthand. Time and time again, He has come through.

Right now, it feels like we’re at the beginning of another miracle.

The end of tax season is here, and thankfully, we made it through. Owning a business comes with its challenges, but filing taxes is a whole different level. This was the final time we needed to file after closing the business, and honestly, we were expecting the worst.

The past few years, we’ve owed money—and that’s never fun. We thought for sure this would be another hit.

We gathered everything, worked through the paperwork, and finally got it submitted.

Then the next day, we got an email from the CPA…

We’re getting a return.

What?!

How is that even possible?

After the final calculations, it turns out we paid over $50,000 last year just to close the business. That number could easily make me frustrated, even angry. But when I really look back, I don’t see loss…

I see provision.

Because the truth is, there’s no way we had an extra $50k just sitting there. If someone had told me that’s what it would cost, I probably would have made a different decision. But somehow, every time something needed to be paid…

My Father provided.

Every single time.

And now, on top of that, we’re receiving money back.

It shouldn’t surprise me—but it still does.

God is taking care of us again.

It’s humbling to look at how loved we are and then reflect on my faith in return. It makes me want to be better, to trust deeper, and to stay steady when things get hard.

Because I know this:

We are protected.

We are being led.

And we are right where God wants us.

So I’ll keep choosing to trust God in the waiting.

Praise God.

Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.
