Trust in God's Unfailing Love and Stand Strong Like an Olive Tree

Psalms 52:6-8
[6] The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say, [7] “Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.” [8] But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.

As I was reading and waiting for the Holy Spirit's inspiration, I came across this passage and instantly thought of all the political junk going on in our country. The thing that angers me the most is the boldness the wicked have in their wickedness. They act like no one will ever do anything about their disgusting acts, and even when confronted, they lie.
I used to be really into politics, rights, and current events. I participated and mostly watched people I agreed with. In and of itself, I don't believe that's a problem, but the anger that watching all of it stirred up inside me was serious. It started creating a volcano within me. I think we can all agree there is seldom good news on TV.
Good morals, godliness, purity, honesty, and so much more are under attack. Many want to destroy what we believe in and stand for because they feel convicted and uncomfortable.
Recently, I was learning about olive trees and their significance in the Bible, and the Lord revealed some awesome things I didn't know.
I had no idea their leaves stay green all year long. Just like someone who chooses to trust in God's unfailing love, these trees can withstand harsh climates and even begin sprouting new life after being chopped down to a stump.
Once an olive tree begins to bear fruit, its oil is used to fuel lamps, anoint kings, heal people, and serve many household purposes. Most importantly, the oil represents the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The benefits of a healthy olive tree are amazing, just like a Christian's commitment to bearing fruit in their own life.
The Lord knows these times are tough, and standing up for our beliefs can bring persecution. We are called to be like the olive tree. Stand strong in the heat. Stay upright in the freezing cold. With God, you can withstand the storm. When you trust in God's unfailing love, your roots grow deeper than the circumstances around you.
The fruit you bear will pour over into the lives of others and reignite flames in brothers and sisters who have lost their way. Stand strong. Stay faithful. Continue to trust in God's unfailing love no matter what comes your way.
One of my favorite quotes is from Jim Elliot:
"Father, make of me a crisis man. Bring those I contact to decision. Let me not be a mile post on a single road; make me a fork, that men must turn one way or another on facing Christ in me."
