Trusting God's Path Instead of Waiting for the Future

A faith-inspired board game stretches from a starting point to a glowing promised land in the distance. Along the path are scenes of everyday obedience, including prayer, serving others, studying God's Word, family discipleship, helping neighbors, and faithful daily work. The center of the board reads "Stop Waiting," illustrating that God's promises are built through ordinary acts of faithfulness rather than passive waiting.
The waiting was never wasted. God was building.

Isaiah 40:28-31

[28] Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. [29] He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. [30] Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. [31] But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Today was a day I had to sit in silence for quite a while before I felt the Lord bring something up. What He put on my mind is something I feel can be confusing. It has to do with our calling, our purpose in this life. I believe that each situation has lasting and powerful effects because God is in and through everything. Mowing the lawn, talking to a neighbor, picking up a piece of trash, or sitting on the couch next to your kid watching a movie—none of these moments are wasted with the correct mindset and outlook.

I have done a lot of research and talked about the wait time and waiting on the Lord. This is where we get mixed up. I see now that looking at this as a waiting time is the wrong perspective. Sure, the Lord may have promised me more or shown that I will have a house with acres of property and a thriving ministry, but that doesn't mean I can sit and wait for all that to fall in my lap.

Every step of our lives is known, loved, and directed by God. Each one is just as vital as the last and the one coming next. Therefore, there is only our life's path, not a waiting room between where we are and where we think we should be. Trusting God's Path means recognizing that He is working just as much in today's step as He is in tomorrow's promise.

We may have the wrong definition of waiting. The waiting we have on the Lord is trusting His guidance and the path He has before us. Not sitting and waiting. It is active faith. It is trusting God's path even when we can't see where the next turn leads.

In this moment, I have the same calling now as I will when I have a million-man ministry. Each opportunity you encounter is set in place by our Heavenly Father, and you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Look at each step you take as land the Lord has given you. Move forward and conquer it in the name of our Father.

No sitting back and waiting for something great when you are standing in God's greatness now.

Don't be so focused on the promise of better things to come that you miss the promised land you are in today! At one point in your walk with the Lord, you prayed to be where you are now. Thank God for your path, thank Him for each step, and keep trusting God's path wherever He leads.

Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.

Psalms 37:5-7

[5] Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. [6] He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. [7] Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
