Trusting God's Timing: How Are You Waiting?

Habakkuk 2:2-3
“Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”
Many of my friends are in a "when" period of their lives. When will this pass? When will I find a better job? When will my finances improve? Lots of whens. Most of those who are moving through these tough times feel as though they are waiting on a promise from the Lord. I have a brother who has struggled financially for a very long time, and he has been holding onto a promise. The Lord said He would restore his family financially, provide a house and a car! Wow, that's pretty incredible.
What do we do right now? Some of us want to sit and wait. Others want to make sure God hears about every issue by constantly complaining. This is the hardest part of the whole process, if you ask me. No matter how you choose to proceed, it's going to be tough. So, what does the Word of God tell us about trusting God's timing?
Out loud or through prayer, admit that you cannot control the clock, and hand that timeline over to God. When it comes to trusting our Heavenly Father, the toughest part is the gap between our timeline and His timeline. Our timeline is measured in minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
God's timeline is not measured by the clock; it's measured by purpose, maturity, and opportunity.
To me, this explains why we often feel stuck. God is operating on His timeline, and we are living by the clock. The simple fact is, we don't know why things are not happening right this moment. He might be preparing you, He might be protecting you, or it could be that the other moving pieces are not aligned yet.
This is where your trust in Him and the history you have of God never failing you help hold you up.
One thing the Lord has taught me is to test my timelines. Is this from God, or is this pressure from an outside source like society, family, or even social media? This really draws you closer to the Lord. Revealing the motive behind this pressure helps take your focus off the meaningless and shift it to what you should be doing.
Each day is a step in the process, and how we handle it determines how we grow. Trusting God's timing doesn't mean doing nothing while we wait. Focus on the responsibilities right in front of you. Look at them as preparation for what's next, and work at them as though you were working with the Lord right beside you.
How are you waiting?
Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen
Galatians 6:8-10
“Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”
