Working for the Lord: Nothing You Do for God Is Useless

1 Corinthians 15:58
“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
Normally, I feel led to share a lot of Scripture in these messages because that is where I want to lead you all. As I've said many times before, if my message in any way leads you to open the Bible and look for answers, praise God. My theology may not always be correct, my life may seem like a mess, and I may have only a couple of friends, but I feel my life's purpose is to boldly use what I've been through to point you to my Heavenly Father.
Today, this verse really hit home for me. My ministry continues to bless me in ways I never thought possible, and in that, my idea of blessings has changed radically.
I remember the first time hearing that the messages I sent were being reshared by the people receiving them. It blew my mind. Does this mean I am so awesome that people love to read my misspelled, terrible grammar messages? No.
All glory to God.
I have never been a writer or a storyteller, but through my faith in God, I've been through some pretty amazing stuff, and He said to share it. So I did. That's what working for the Lord looks like for me right now.
Some blessings come in the form of feedback, and they come at times I least expect it. I'll be talking about a car repair, and then my friend will suddenly say, "I shared your message with this person, and it really touched them." It makes me feel so purposeful and joyful to see my life being used by the Lord.
I am saying all of this to encourage you.
We all have our calling in this wonderful life in pursuit of God's will. If God can use me in ways I never dreamed possible, then He can and will use you. All He needs is your "yes."
Nothing you do for the Lord is useless, even the unseen things that no one else will ever know about. Working for the Lord isn't measured by how many people see what you're doing. Those unseen acts have an effect on your heart and your growth.
It shifts your focus from human approval to seeking an intimate relationship with God.
This, my friends, is where your character changes. The meaningless begins to strip away, and you begin to live in your unshakable identity set by the God of the universe.
Maybe your "yes" won't look like mine. Maybe no one will ever reshare it, congratulate you, or even know you did it. But God knows.
And nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
Are you ready?
Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen
Colossians 3:1-4
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
