Answering the Call to Godly Leadership

A dramatic Christian-themed image showing a man standing at a crossroads between a busy city and a sunlit path leading toward a hilltop cross. A family walks ahead on the path while signs point to values such as faith, leadership, family, integrity, purpose, and legacy. Golden rays break through the clouds, symbolizing God's call to step into purpose and lead with obedience.
Every man will hear the call. Blessed is the one who answers.

Isaiah 6:6-8

[6] Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. [7] He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” [8] Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

As men of God, we are designed to lead. We are called to take charge, blaze new trails, and step into the responsibilities God has placed before us. We can find a way to survive in the wilderness, overcome challenges, and provide solutions because of the way the Lord created us. At least most of us.

Our culture has slowly, over generations, led men down a path of easy living, where comfort is often desired over hard work. Unfortunately, it is starting to show. We see women carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone, women leading families without support, fixing problems, doing repairs, and often feeling unfulfilled despite their best efforts.

Personally, I love when women want to learn new things or take on new challenges. My wife has a beautiful garden, and she has cultivated most of it from seeds. She comes inside with dirt up to her forearms and a big smile on her face. The thing is, she doesn't have to do this. She feels led by the Holy Spirit to provide fresh food for our family. If she wanted to learn how to do brakes or perform a tune-up, I would happily teach her everything I know. But she doesn't. She's led toward other meaningful things.

She homeschools both of our kids, and she's perfectly suited for that God-given role. As men, our success in Godly leadership is often reflected in how well we help others step into their God-given roles by faithfully fulfilling our own. But whether others embrace their calling or not, we are still responsible before God for embracing ours.

Men, we need to step up. Too often, we enable weak men to take a back seat in situations that require the strengths, wisdom, and perspective God uniquely designed men to bring. Whether it's in your family, your church, or out in the world, men of God are needed.

People may respond with doubt at first, and that's something we can't control. What we can control is our consistency. Over time, faithful Godly leadership earns trust and produces fruit.

I've found that the more my wife and I embrace our God-given roles, the closer we become. Our intimacy grows, forgiveness comes quicker, communication becomes easier, and our ability to lead our children strengthens. Everything improves when we walk in obedience to God's design.

The rewards of stepping into Godly leadership are truly amazing.

Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.

James 1:22-25

[22] But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. [23] For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. [24] You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. [25] But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
