Bold Faith Begins in the Heart: Confronting the Fear That Holds You Back

Illustration of a young man with a glowing heart holding a sword, standing against a dark demonic figure. Surrounding the demon are handwritten fears and doubts like “Fear of rejection,” “Not feeling qualified,” and “Worry about saying the wrong thing.” Bold text at the bottom reads “Bold Faith – Acts of the Apostles 4.” The image represents the internal battle of choosing bold faith despite fear.
We all face the battle between fear and obedience.  Bold faith doesn’t mean we’re never afraid—it means we choose to trust God anyway. Inspired by Acts 4, this visual reminds us that the fight is real, but so is the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

Acts of the Apostles 4:29–30

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.

What a prayer.

I encourage you to read this whole chapter—or better yet, the entire book of Acts. After they prayed that bold prayer, the building literally shook. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and went out preaching with bold faith. That’s incredible.

I need that kind of bold faith. I want to live with that kind of fire all the time.

Sometimes I feel it—those Holy Spirit nudges to speak, pray, or help someone. And there are moments when I respond in boldness. But there are also times I hesitate. I ignore the prompting. I keep walking. My mind is quick to rationalize why silence was “smarter” or more “appropriate.”

But later—when I pause and reflect—I feel it. The regret. The clarity. The missed opportunity.

Ouch.

What I believe God wants from us is not perfection—but persistence. Bold faith doesn’t mean we never mess up. It means we keep trying. When we miss the moment, we learn. And when a similar moment comes again, we step in instead of stepping back. Because bold faith remembers: God is with you.

I’ve offered help and prayer to people who responded with tears, hugs, big smiles, silence, or sometimes rejection. Some responses are beautiful; others sting a little. But that’s not what bold faith is about. Bold faith is about obedience, not outcomes.

Jesus looked beyond appearances. He saw people as they truly were—hurting, broken, lost, and in desperate need of healing. He wasn’t intimidated by the rough exterior or hostile attitude. He loved boldly. And He calls us to do the same.

So love people. Let your actions reflect bold faith. Let them see the difference Jesus makes in your life.

This is the mission: Spread the Word of God with bold faith. Speak with conviction—as if you truly carry the answer to their pain, because you do. You carry the hope of the Gospel. The power of the name of Jesus. The same God who healed diseases, cast out demons, and brought the dead to life is still at work today.

I’ve seen His healing power with my own eyes. I know He’ll do it again.

Praise God.

Be bold.

Live with bold faith.

That person needs Jesus.

Amen.

Acts of the Apostles 4:13–14

The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say.

Wear the Message. Live the Mission.

This blog was inspired by the daily battle we all face to live with bold faith—to speak when it’s hard, to stand when it’s easier to walk away. We created a shirt to serve as both a reminder and a declaration: faith isn’t passive—it’s a fight worth showing up for.

Let this tee be your armor and your testimony.

Bold faith begins in the heart—but it doesn’t stop there.
