Broken but Loved: Living in the Power of God’s Forgiveness

Updated: Jun 24, 2025

Illustration of a man kneeling at the foot of a large wooden cross, holding a broken vessel in his hands, with golden light radiating from the cross—symbolizing surrender, God's forgiveness, and healing from brokenness.
Even in your lowest moment, bring what’s broken. At the foot of the cross, there’s mercy, restoration, and love that never walks away.

Nehemiah 9:17

“They refused to obey and did not remember the miracles you had done for them. Instead, they became stubborn and appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. You did not abandon them.”

Forgive me, for I have sinned.

Today, the Lord is reminding us of the depth of His love and forgiveness—and the purpose behind it. I mess up. I forget things. I lose my temper. I get road rage. My kids push every button, and too often, I respond in my own way. It’s not the right way. There’s no love in it—just frustration and anger. And I hate it. I look back on the words I’ve spoken, the tone I’ve used, the example I’ve set... and I feel nothing but shame.

And the enemy? He loves that. He thrives on our shame. He wants to trap us in it, to make us believe we’re unworthy of grace. That’s always been the goal—to keep us stuck.

But I’m human. Which means... I will fall short.

Yet even in those moments of failure, God meets me with open arms. He fills in the gaps I can’t. He never expected me to do this life alone. That’s why He gave us His Spirit—to guide our hearts when everything feels too heavy.

Our Heavenly Father already knows we won’t measure up to the perfect example Jesus set. And still—He loves us. He forgives us. He sees past the failure and into the heart that longs to do better. What a comfort to know that when I fall, He doesn’t walk away. He stays. He corrects, restores, and loves me through it.

These moments—these messes—aren’t wasted. They draw me closer to Him. They shape my faith. They deepen our relationship. And that’s what He wants most: A deep, honest, ongoing relationship with us.

Thank You, Lord, for Your endless forgiveness and grace. Thank You for every new beginning.

Amen.

2 Corinthians 10:3

“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.”
