Brotherly Love: Show Up and Keep Loving

Updated: Jun 24, 2025

Three men sit in prayer around a wooden table in a dimly lit coffee shop, with an empty chair and a glowing cross on the wall behind them. Bold text reads "REAL MEN SHOW UP."
Brotherhood happens when real men show up—heart open, prayers lifted, presence steady.

Hebrews 13:1-2 NLT"

[1] Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. [2] Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"

Keep on loving each other. We are brothers and sisters—we belong to the same family and share the same Father. We look out for one another. We intercede for one another. We are equally loved by God.

But let’s be real—sometimes, people come into our lives who put everything we believe about love to the test. They can be difficult to love. They may be ungrateful, hard to help, or only take without giving anything back. As frustrating as that is, our calling doesn’t change. We are still called to love. Even the ungrateful. Even the hard to help.

Why? Because when we truly accept and experience God’s love, it should overflow into every area of our lives—especially how we treat others. That kind of love doesn’t just stay inside. It spills out onto everyone we see. That’s what it means to be part of God’s family.

So how do we show that love? By checking in with people through a call or a text. By showing up when someone needs help. By having meaningful conversations. By being a vessel of God’s love wherever we go.

Last night, a small group of us met up at a coffee shop. We’ve been meeting for a while now and know each other pretty well. One of our brothers wasn’t doing great—he’d been sick and had just gone through a rough hospital stay. The three of us at coffee, led by the Holy Spirit, decided to visit him. After some updates and small talk, we got down to business. We prayed.

Right away, I could feel our Father’s presence. It was powerful. The love in the room was real and thick. That love opened our brother up to the Lord’s healing power. We fully believe God is moving, and we’re already hearing about major improvements—just overnight!

This is what God’s love - brotherly love - does. It tears down walls. It bridges gaps. It pushes past everything that distracts us from loving fully and freely. In that moment, we experienced pure, godly love. And that is powerful.

Hebrews 13:15-16 NLT

"[15] Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. [16] And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God."

So let’s keep loving. Keep doing good. Keep sharing. This is what pleases God—and this is what His family is all about.

Amen.
