Proverbs 14:34
“Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”
We live in a great nation. I thank the Lord for placing my family and me here—because, truthfully, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. That said, there are plenty of things our government does that I don't agree with. I don't like how certain issues are handled, and I definitely don’t like how people are treated in some situations. Why do they do these things? I don’t know all the reasons. But what I do know—and what grieves my heart—is that no one seems to seek God’s will anymore. Decisions are no longer based on biblical principles or teachings.
Where are the godly people?
As great as our nation is, it desperately needs God. Sin is rampant. Access to every form of lust, temptation, and addiction is at our fingertips. We teach perverse and meaningless things in our schools. We've become a nation in need of saving.
So where does it begin?
It begins with us—the body of Christ. We need bold, faithful believers to rise up and find their voice. We must return to living out biblical truth, taking steps of faith led by the Holy Spirit.
We need to speak when He leads us.
We need to stand when He prompts us.
We need to share our hope in Jesus whenever we are called.
Today, as we celebrate the accomplishments of soldiers who fought for our independence, let’s remember—faith in God and biblical values were central to their courage and calling. That same calling still exists today. The battlefield just looks different.
Today, the fight is spiritual.
The first step is reclaiming the ground the enemy has already stolen. Fear has silenced many of us. Comfort has kept others still. We avoid the spotlight, afraid of what may come if we speak up. But even a single step of obedience, living as a godly example, has the power to make a difference.
God is calling His people—men and women—to live according to the teachings of Jesus and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Let’s pray for our country. Let’s pray for our leaders—whether we agree with them or not—because God allowed them to be there, and we should want them to turn to Him and lead with wisdom.
Let’s pray for our future as a nation, and ask the Lord to lead us.
Amen.
I pray each of you gets to enjoy time with family and friends today. And when the moment comes, be bold.
Psalm 97:6–7
“The heavens proclaim his righteousness; every nation sees his glory. All who worship idols are disgraced—those who brag about their worthless gods—for every god must bow to Him.”
