As a new year begins, God calls us to examine what has been controlling our minds. Romans 8 reminds us that letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace, while old patterns keep us stuck. This devotion is a call to repentance, courage, and freedom—leaving sin behind and stepping into the next season prepared, forgiven, and led by the Spirit.

Discernment grows as we walk with God. Through Scripture, prayer, and obedience, the Holy Spirit trains us to see clearly and choose the Lord’s true and right paths.

When God warned me to walk away from a church I loved, obedience didn’t make sense—it just hurt. But faith means trusting His warning even when you can’t see the danger. Years later, I see His protection was the blessing all along.

Even in a frustrating moment with a stalled car, I experienced Holy Spirit guidance through the kindness of strangers and the quiet clarity that comes from prayer. As firefighters and my son offered help, I was reminded that God’s presence shows up in everyday messes—and that loving our neighbors reflects His heart.

As great as our nation is, it desperately needs God. Sin is rampant, and few seek His will. Where are the godly people? Now more than ever, we need bold believers to rise up, live by biblical principles, and lead with faith. Godly people must stand, speak, and lead in a time when the nation is drifting from truth. One step of obedience can begin to reclaim what the enemy has stolen.

I don’t know the Lord’s plans for my brother, but I know he is loved, and we will not stop praying for him. God answers prayers.

When we step into the light of Christ, we leave behind the pull of the world and walk toward purpose, integrity, and hope. As members of God’s house, we’re no longer alone—we’re guided by the Spirit and built on a foundation of truth.
