Psalms 20:4-5
[4] May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed.[5] May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the Lord answer all your prayers.
This would be so encouraging coming from a brother or sister in Christ. Think about that for a moment. This is how iron sharpens iron, how a friend helps a friend. Sharing in the joy of victory over a trial or situation in someone’s life is part of the blessing.
But there’s another side to this we can’t ignore. We also need to be ready to comfort and cry with others when things get heavy. That is just as much a part of Christian encouragement in trials and victories as celebrating the good times.
The truth is—people are terrible at accepting or asking for help or comfort, especially men. Maybe you’ve been there. You need the help, you need the comfort, but something inside tells you to push through alone. God, however, didn’t design us to do this life by ourselves. He blessed us with good people who are willing to be there for us. Sometimes we just need to reach out.
On top of being a blessing for you, reaching out blesses them too. Don’t rob someone of that opportunity by trying to be the “strong, silent type” the enemy has ingrained into men for generations. It goes directly against what the Lord taught—and we should have nothing to do with it.
So let Psalms 20:4-5 encourage you today. Reach out to someone. Let them stand with you in your trials, and let them shout for joy with you in your victories. That is true Christian encouragement in trials and victories—the kind that honors God and strengthens His people.
Amen
John 15:12
This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
