Come Bravely Before the Throne—Because Jesus Understands Every Weakness You Carry

Hebrews 4:15–16
“[15] Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin! [16] So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved grace, and we will find help.”
Our sin can feel unbeatable. Failure after failure, backslide after backslide, can slowly shift our mindset from hope to giving up. Like Paul explained, we sometimes hate our sin and don’t want to do it, yet we still fall into it. I can speak from my own failures and say it’s deeply discouraging. “Will I always struggle with this?” That question hits hard.
But this is exactly where the call to come bravely before the throne becomes life-changing.
We have hope! We serve a Lord who fully understands. Jesus was tempted just as we are—by women, pride, anger, money, power—yet He resisted all of them successfully. Because of that, He offers us a way out, a path to truly repent, and the strength to walk out of the ruts we keep falling into.
Once we understand it’s impossible under our own power, we realize how desperately we need to surrender and come bravely before the throne of grace. Lay it down. Don’t return to what keeps pulling you backward. The enemy will do everything possible to lure you back into the same hole and convince you to stay stuck there. But as long as you keep your focus on the Lord and His grace, you will move forward—step by step.
The very phrase “come bravely before the throne” tells me something powerful:
Jesus knows how hard it is.
He knows how much courage it takes to admit our struggles and expose our sin before God.
But the truth is—He already knows. And He already loves you right now.
He hates the sin that slows you down and pulls you out of the fight, but He does not hate you. Even when you sin and mess up, you still have a calling to fulfill, a purpose to live out, and a God to obey. That’s why we must repent quickly and move on instead of wallowing in shame and becoming ineffective for the Kingdom.
Our Heavenly Father’s eyes are full of love, and His embrace is full of mercy and grace. We are human. We will sin. What the Lord cares about is your heart—and what you choose to do after you fall.
So today, remember this:
Don’t run and hide.
Don’t sink into shame.
Don’t believe the enemy’s lie that you’re disqualified.
Come bravely before the throne.
There, you will find the grace and help you desperately need.
Thank You, Father, for another day. Amen.
Romans 3:23–26
“[23] All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. [24] But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins. [25–26] God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life's blood, so by faith in him we could come to God. And God did this to show that in the past he was right to be patient and forgive sinners. This also shows that God is right when he accepts people who have faith in Jesus.”
