Delight in the Lord and Trust His Perfect Plan

Psalms 37:3-5
[3] Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. [4] Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. [5] Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.
Take delight in the Lord. That really stuck out to me, so I had to look up the definition of delight in the Lord, and it was incredible: "to find supreme joy, satisfaction, and pleasure in God and His will."
I would like you to ponder that today. Sit with its meaning, then hold your life up next to it and see what doesn't match.
To find supreme joy, satisfaction, and pleasure in God and His plan for your life, you need to be all in. You need to sell the farm, take the proceeds, and bet it all on God's path. I would be a fool if I said that was no big deal or easy, and I'm sorry for the gambling reference. The truth is, it's not a gamble at all. It is the only sure thing we will ever have in this life. God will not let you down.
Our joy and fulfillment are rooted in God and in the things that glorify Him rather than the temporary and meaningless things of this world. You will find joy in God's provision, God's timing, God's design, and His plan for your life. When we truly delight in the Lord, we become moldable and willing to bend to His will. That place of surrender is where God does His greatest work in us and through us, blessing us in the process.
When we give up lust, we are trusting God that purity is the better way.
When we give up anger, we are trusting God that compassion is the better way.
When we give up the pursuit of money, we are trusting God that He is faithful to provide.
How can we go wrong?
The more our hearts turn toward God instead of the things of this world, the more our will aligns with His. Our desires begin to change. Our outlook changes. The things of God no longer seem restrictive—they become beautiful, exciting, and life-giving. That is when God gives us the desires of our hearts because our hearts are now in agreement with His. This is where true fulfillment is found, and only here can we truly experience it.

Romans 12:1-2
[1] And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. [2] Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
