Micah 6:8
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Justice. I think it’s fair to say there are not very many people who truly know what that means. We’ve been hearing people scream, chant, and try to enact justice everywhere we look.
There seems to be one major flaw, no matter what side you are on: it is rarely fair and impartial. Too often, all the evidence isn’t considered. Those things are crucial to finding any real solution, and we need the Lord’s help to get there.
Just as we learned the other day, we need to ask the Lord to search our hearts—uncovering any biases or faults in our feelings or thinking. As followers of Jesus, we cannot be biased. We cannot be prejudiced. If we want to truly do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, our hearts must first be aligned with His.
From the example the Lord gave us, being fair and impartial is not the norm. We will stand out just as Jesus did. But to get there, we must ask God to change our hearts and use what He’s already taught us to make sure we are being just in the way He defines justice.
This world is divided and wants to fight to the death just to make sure its voice is heard. This is the enemy’s plan—and it’s working. As representatives of the Lord, we need to be extra vigilant and make sure what we say lines up with the principles and teachings of God. If we truly want to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, our words and actions must reflect Him, not the noise around us.
I’ll admit, it can be easy to slide to one side or the other. But the world needs good examples now more than ever—people willing to be different, to be fair, and to stay grounded in truth.
Heavenly Father, please change our hearts and let Your light shine in us so the whole world can see there is a right way.
Thank You, Father, for another day.
Amen.
Proverbs 21:15
Justice is a joy to the godly, but it terrifies evildoers.
