Romans 12:12-13
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.
Hope.
Sometimes, obeying the Lord makes it seem like things are getting worse before they get better. In financial hardships, we may be challenged to let go of our goals and trust Him fully with His plan. And often, His plan still involves generosity, charity, and hospitality — even when it feels like we barely have enough ourselves.
In those moments when you're staring at an unpaid bill, wondering how it will all work out, the Lord is with you. Stay strong. Keep praying. This will not last forever. Holding onto hope in God during hard times means believing that He sees what you see — and more.
Our hope is not in the stock market.
Our hope is not in business.
Our hope is in the goodness of God and what He did for us on the cross.
That is a sure bet. A guaranteed win. An investment that has never failed for generations and generations. Hope in God during hard times is never wasted and never in vain.
Health challenges are, unfortunately, part of life on this side of heaven. I have yet to meet someone who has lived completely free of them. For most of my life, I was very healthy. I rarely got sick. I could fall asleep within minutes and wake up feeling rested — until one day that all stopped.
I got sick. And from that point forward, I developed heart issues and sleep apnea. What the heck? I still don’t fully understand why I had to almost die and now live with something like this for the rest of my life.
But even in that — by the grace of God — I still have hope.
I still have purpose.
I can still make a difference in this body I struggle with daily.
I know what I am going through is not random. It has meaning. It is equipping me for something in the Kingdom. My faith in God gives me strength, and holding onto hope in God during hard times reminds me that my suffering is not pointless.
The pain and hardship you are experiencing right now is meaningful.
There is purpose in it.
There is growth in it.
There is preparation in it.
I pray you use your knowledge of God to understand that despite the struggles, you have hope. Real hope. Confident hope. The kind of hope Psalm 27 speaks about:
Psalm 27:13-14
Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
Wait patiently.
Be brave.
Be courageous.
And keep holding onto hope in God during hard times, because His goodness is not finished with you yet.
Thank You, Father, for one more day. Amen.
