The Most Dangerous Path Is the One Without God—Seek God's Will for Your Life

Proverbs 3:6–7
[6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.[7] Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Have you ever started down a path and, after walking for a while, realized it wasn’t going where you thought it would? It was the wrong path.
In a car, that realization happens quickly. Take the wrong freeway, and within a couple of minutes you know a mistake was made. Now imagine making that same mistake—but with your life’s direction. That’s far more serious and far more intimidating.
That’s why Scripture urges us to seek God’s will for your life before we get too far down the road.
None of us want to look back one day and realize our life’s pursuit was meaningless because it was centered on money, status, comfort, or personal ambition. College, career, a house, hobbies, toys—even fitness—none of those things are wrong in themselves. In God’s timing and will, they can be incredible blessings.
The issue isn’t what we pursue—it’s where our heart is.
Were we trying to glorify God, or were we impressed with our own wisdom?
My dad said it best many years ago: “If it doesn’t bring glory to God, it’s a sin.” That statement has stayed with me and serves as a powerful reminder that the most dangerous path isn’t failure—it’s success without God.
Some of us are right in the middle of growing a career, saving for the next big purchase, or building something we’re proud of. This is where Proverbs 3 becomes personal. Now is the time to pause and intentionally seek God’s will for your life.
Pray about it. Ask others to pray with you. Don’t take it lightly.
We can’t regain what’s already been lost, but we can redeem the future God has placed in front of us. If you already know you’re walking in the Lord’s path, praise God for a life that brings Him glory. If you have doubts or questions, don’t ignore them. This is the moment to humbly seek God’s will for your life instead of trusting your own understanding.
I’ve included a link below to my brother’s sermon on a similar topic. It truly touched my heart, and I pray it encourages yours as well.
Thank you, Father, for another day. Amen.
Proverbs 3:9–10
[9] Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.[10] Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
