Face the Lions: Trusting God in Trials

Updated: Jul 12

Illustration of a person praying in a dark city street surrounded by signs of modern struggles like “Past Due,” “Anxiety,” and “Layoff Notice.” A bold outline of a lion’s face is visible behind the text “Trusting God in Trials,” with a cross illuminated in a beam of light, symbolizing victory through Christ.
When the weight of the world surrounds you, and the lions of life roar loud—remember who holds the victory. Trusting God in trials isn't about escaping the storm; it's about standing firm in the One who already won.

Daniel 6:16

"So at last, the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, 'May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.’”

What a powerful scene this is. I can visualize it every time I read this chapter. Do you think Daniel was nervous? I bet the human side of him had questions. Maybe something like, “Is it really God’s will that I get eaten by lions? Because that sounds terrible.”

But whatever ran through his mind, we don’t see him resisting. There’s no record of panic, no last-minute plea, no fight. Just faith.

Daniel shows us what trusting God in trials really looks like. His faith outweighed the fear that any of us would naturally feel. Imagine Daniel locking eyes with King Darius as he hears the words:

"May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you."

At that moment, I believe Daniel was filled with the Holy Spirit. He stepped into the lions’ den fully prepared to face whatever God's will would be.

As we know, the Lord sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths because Daniel was found innocent and without fault.

This story is deeply encouraging every time I read it. Daniel’s faith in action is both beautiful and humbling. It reminds me that trusting God in trials isn’t always about seeing the way out—it’s about being at peace even if you don’t. I try to walk in faith, but what if I stood at the edge of a lions' den? What if you did? Suddenly, the stress of bills or the worries of today seem a little smaller.

We all will face a lions’ den at some point in life. Thankfully, for most of us, it won’t involve actual lions—but it will still be real, and it will still be hard.

It might be an empty bank account with a family to feed. A broken relationship. A terrifying diagnosis. This is where trusting God in trials becomes more than a phrase—it becomes your lifeline.

These moments demand sacrifice. They require prioritization. Your trust and faith will be the difference between getting devoured or delivered.

The answer is the same in every den: Faith. Trust. Rest.

God wants you to rely on Him completely by faith. God wants you to trust Him enough to let Him take the wheel. And He wants those first two to become so second-nature that you can lie down and rest—even in the middle of the storm

This is the heart of trusting God in trials—not just surviving the moment, but resting in His sovereignty while you’re in it.

He's got it. He’s the same God who closed the mouths of the lions.

Amen.

Daniel 6:21–22

"Daniel answered, 'Long live the king! My God sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in His sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.’”

Illustration of a fierce, roaring lion standing face to face with a calm, fearless man in a hoodie. The background shows a gritty urban setting with warning signs like “Past Due,” “Cancer Diagnosis,” “Layoff Notice,” and “I’m Not Enough” posted on nearby buildings, symbolizing life’s trials and spiritual battles.
When fear bares its teeth and the trials roar loud, stand firm. Faith isn’t the absence of danger—it’s the presence of courage when you know who stands with you.

Wear the Message

This design was inspired by the message in today’s blog: “Trusting God in Trials.” The "Faith Stands Where Lions Roar" tee is a bold reminder that even in life’s fiercest battles, our faith stands firm.
