God Qualifies the Called: Why Your ‘Yes’ Matters More Than Your Resume

A man speaks passionately to a crowd with the shadow of Moses holding a staff cast on the wall behind him. Bold text reads, "God doesn’t need your perfection. Just your yes.
You may feel unqualified, but God sees your "yes" as enough. He doesn’t need your perfection—just your obedience.

Exodus 6:1 NLT

Then the Lord told Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh. When he feels the force of my strong hand, he will let the people go. In fact, he will force them to leave his land!”

Today, I felt the Lord prompting me to reflect on Moses' story—and maybe it’s for you, too.

In this part of the story, we're still near the beginning. God has just revealed the signs and wonders Moses can perform to help others believe. Yet Moses is still terrified. He stammers. He pleads. He begs God, “Please send anyone but me!

I get it. I’ve been there. Maybe you have, too.

The Lord is calling you into something bigger—but your first thought? Why me?

We start second-guessing the call. Questioning His decision. As if God somehow made a mistake.

“I’m not a public speaker… I freeze up and lose my place.” “Last time I tried talking about God, they told me to leave them alone.”

But here’s the truth: God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.

No matter what weaknesses we think disqualify us, they’re the very things God uses to reveal His strength. It’s not that a speech impediment is powerful on its own—it’s that when you surrender your fear, your insecurity, your limitation, God moves through it. His grace covers it. His power flows despite it.

That’s the heart of it: God qualifies the called. He equips those who say yes—even when they feel unready.

Just as the Lord told Moses:

“Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”Exodus 4:11–12

It’s time for action. No more hesitation. You are called.

Let’s go.
