1 Corinthians 9:19 (NLT)
Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ.
This is such an interesting verse. Paul was free—just like you and me—because he believed. But like many of the apostles, he knew he had no choice but to live out God’s will for his life. His calling and gift were evangelism—and man, was he good at it. He adapted to the people around him so he could connect more effectively and share the truth of Christ.
I find this incredibly inspiring. I believe it's meant to stir something in all of us. It’s a reminder of how seriously we should take our calling and how devoted we need to be. Living a life of service to others—that’s the example Paul gives us.
Do you know your calling? Are you still trying to discover your calling or better understand how God has wired you to serve? When was the last time you lived it out—really used it to serve others?
It’s a loaded question. Because this isn’t supposed to be a “once in a while” kind of thing. Once we realize and discover our calling, we’re supposed to move. We’re called to go all in—sold out like Paul—for the life God has designed for us.
And here’s the thing: serving others is incredibly rewarding. There’s nothing like the blessing of helping someone step into a relationship with Jesus.
It all starts with a simple but powerful step: asking the Lord for His direction. Ask Him to help you discover your calling and reveal the gifts He’s placed in you. Then follow.
Amen.
1 Corinthians 9:22–23 (NLT)
When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
