Living as an Example of God’s Love: Standing Ready for Every Divine Appointment

A realistic painted illustration of a man and woman walking toward each other on a sunny pathway as a large, glowing hand from above symbolically guides their steps. Golden lines connect each person to the center point where their paths meet, with the text “You Didn’t Just Cross Paths. God Planned This.
God is always working behind the scenes. Even the moments that feel ordinary can be divine appointments He planned long before you ever arrived. Stay ready, stay prayerful, and trust His timing.

Psalms 71:7–8

“My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.”

We are living as an example of God’s love everywhere we go. The way we carry ourselves in public, how we respond, how we speak—people notice. Whether we realize it or not, someone is always watching, and what they should see is love.

I firmly believe in divine appointments. I’ve had many. Those moments where the Lord sets up two or more people on what I call a “Holy Spirit blind date.” One moment you’re standing in line for Mexican food, just minding your business, and then the Holy Spirit nudges your heart. That happened to me recently—just a simple urge to ask the man in front of me about his work. Turns out he was the owner, a believer, and the exact contractor we needed. You can’t make that up. When You’re living as an example of God’s love, God uses the smallest moments for His biggest purposes.

This can happen anywhere, which is why the Lord commands us to stay ready.

When you leave your house, prepare your heart.

Pray.

Ask the Lord to make you sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

We only get one shot at each of these moments, and we want to make the most of them.

Later, while out at coffee with my brothers, an old customer happened to walk in. I hadn’t seen him in years. He immediately shared that he had suffered a major heart attack and nearly died. My first reaction was gratitude—thankful that he was still here and that God allowed our paths to cross again.

I told him, “Praise God you are still here, and I get to see you again.”He smiled big.

Then we talked about his hotrods—man, he was excited—but under all of that, I sensed God was doing something.

Because I’m already in conversation with my Father throughout the day, I could immediately ask: “Lord, what do You want me to say? What is this moment about?”And what I felt was simple—compassion.

My brothers and I told him we were thankful he was alive and that the Lord clearly still has a plan for him. You could see it touched him. Who knows what this will turn into? He knows where and when we meet. Maybe he’ll join us. Maybe God will grow that seed into something powerful.

That’s why we stay faithful.

That’s why we stay ready.

That’s what living as an example of God’s love looks like in real time.

Thank You, Father, for another day. Amen.

Ephesians 5:1–2

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”
