Psalms 119:57-59
[57] Lord, you are mine! I promise to obey your words! [58] With all my heart I want your blessings. Be merciful as you promised. [59] I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws.
Obey.
I hate to admit this, but sometimes I get the feeling I need to do something… and I just don’t want to. Especially if I’ve been in a season of “waiting” or feeling inactive for a while. I get lazy. My motivation starts looking for a boost from my own fuel tank—and it’s running low.
Thank God I’m not built to run on that alone.
I’m more like a purpose-built drag race car. I’ve got another fuel tank—one filled with something far greater. When I turn to prayer, when I suit up and seek Him, I start drawing from that 110-octane power source that never runs dry.
That’s what obeying God in the waiting really looks like.
I don’t believe there is ever truly an “inactive” season in the life of a follower. The circumstances may change, but our calling doesn’t. Our duty to the Lord remains the same. The fuel is always available.
Obey.
Keep your eyes open for opportunities.
That means pushing past anxiety, worry, and fear so you can actually be present in the moments and interactions God places in front of you. Because even when life feels still, God is not.
It’s hard to find motivation when your focus drifts. And it’s easy to lose focus when it feels like nothing is happening—when you’re waiting for something big.
But if the Lord led you into this season, then this moment matters.
Obeying God in the waiting is just as important as obeying in what you feel is your calling. It’s all part of His plan. Faith isn’t situational—it’s constant. It’s trusting Him in all seasons, not just the ones that make sense.
You’re not stuck.
You’re sitting in the staging lane.
Your engine is revving, bouncing off the limiter. Everything in you is ready to go. And all you have to do is wait for His timing—then let go and trust Him with what comes next.
The Lord has the wheel.
He built the car.
He knows the track.
All He’s asking for is your faith… and your obedience.
Hang on—and let’s race.
Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.
Hebrews 12:1-2
[1] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. [2] We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
