Genesis 17:9
Then God said to Abraham, “Your responsibility is to obey the terms of the covenant. You and all your descendants have this continual responsibility.”
Today’s verse is such a good reminder of the faithfulness of our God.
In Genesis 17, God makes huge covenant promises to Abraham and his descendants for all generations. Abraham would become the father of many nations. Kings would come from him. His children would inherit all the land, and our Heavenly Father would be their God forever.
This is a promise God will keep, no matter how faithless Abraham’s children might be in the future. Yes, God may judge and discipline them, but He will never break His promises. And that’s why we can rest in God’s promises with full confidence.
I believe the Lord wants to encourage you today to do the same—to rest fully in His promises. Maybe you have unique promises the Lord has spoken over your life. You also have the promises He’s given to all believers in His Word. Rest in them. That means putting your mind at rest, your actions at rest, and your understanding at rest.
Picture yourself letting go of everything you’ve been carrying. It all crashes to the ground, and you begin walking on the path He has set before you. No worry. No fear. No doubt. You’re in a state of surrender, trusting His will completely. That’s when peace and joy begin to overflow, and you start to understand the depth and power of what it means to truly rest in God’s promises. It’s life-changing.
I believe we all have something we need to let go of today. Whatever it is—release it, surrender it, and rest in His promises.
Amen.
Psalms 12:6–8
The Lord’s promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over. Therefore, Lord, we know you will protect the oppressed, preserving them forever from this lying generation, even though the wicked strut about, and evil is praised throughout the land.
