Spiritual Growth in Trials: Training Like a Champion for God’s Kingdom

A muscular man kneels on a gritty gym floor, chained to massive iron weights engraved with the words Fear, Doubt, Pain, and Failure. His hands are clasped in prayer as golden light begins breaking the chains. On the left, shadowy figures mock him with signs saying “Give Up” and “You’re Weak,” while on the right, angelic figures cheer with banners reading Endurance, Faith, and Victory. A storm brews in the background, but a radiant sunrise breaks through, symbolizing spiritual growth in trials and victory in God’s Kingdom.
Every chain of fear, doubt, pain, and failure breaks when we train our faith in God’s strength. Spiritual growth in trials forges champions for His Kingdom.

Hebrews 6:1

[1] We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldn't need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God.

Continual growth—that’s what God calls us to. Nothing should stop us from pursuing it. Falling short often becomes the best opportunity for growth. And when things go right according to God’s plan, it should also bring about growth in our faith. The key is staying grounded in the mindset that every circumstance can be used to strengthen us.

This is where spiritual growth in trials becomes essential. When hardships come, our natural reaction is often to cry, complain, or seek attention. But when we intentionally stay kingdom-minded, we begin to see trials as opportunities to grow in the Lord. Even in painful moments, we are never alone. God has promised that He will not leave us.

Think of it like an athlete training for a sport. Each painful exercise tears and rebuilds muscle into stronger, more useful tools for performance. That’s exactly how spiritual growth in trials works. Each test and hardship rebuilds our spiritual muscles—strengthening faith, increasing endurance, and preparing us to respond quicker with trust, hope, and obedience.

The best part is that unlike an athlete who trains in their own strength, we have God to lean on when things become too heavy. He never leaves us to carry more than we can bear. That is His promise!

So face each situation with confidence in the Lord. Remember that every battle fought with Him leads to growth, and that growth is your victory. You are designed to be victorious. When you remain in God’s will, every outcome carries eternal purpose.

Thank your Father today for another chance to grow.

Romans 5:3-5

[3] But that's not all! We gladly suffer, because we know that suffering helps us to endure.[4] And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope [5] that will never disappoint us. All of this happens because God has given us the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with his love.
