The Lord’s Hand Is Not Too Short to Save: A Testimony of God’s Power

A symbolic digital illustration of Isaiah 59:1 showing a giant golden hand of God reaching down from heaven toward a man standing on cracked ground, arm raised upward. Beside the man is a glowing glass of lemonade with a halved lemon. At the bottom, the text reads: “The Lord’s Hand Is Not Too Short to Save – Isaiah 59:1.” The dark stormy background contrasts with the golden light, symbolizing God’s saving power and transformation.
Even in life’s storms, the Lord’s hand is not too short to save—He turns our trials into testimony and our lemons into His lemonade.

Isaiah 59:1

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short That it cannot save…”

Today’s Testimony Is Brought to You by Our Heavenly Father

On Thursday, a friend of mine—someone who often hears from the Lord—unexpectedly showed up at my work. He said, “I wasn’t planning on coming by, but I have this word that I have to give you.” Normally, whatever word he brings is spot-on for what I’m going through. But this time, he said simply: “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short.”

I just looked at him because I knew the rest of the verse. For once, it didn’t feel like I needed saving from anything. We even joked that maybe this word was encouragement for later.

Sadly, that turned out to be true.

A Sudden Crisis

On Friday night, my family was headed to a new restaurant. My son and I had been there once before, but my wife and daughter hadn’t. The boys were excited to introduce it—especially the fresh guacamole.

The drive down was loud, with the kids laughing and being their usual energetic selves. But after a stressful day at work and running on only three hours of sleep, I felt the storm brewing inside me.

Sitting next to my son, I suddenly noticed my heart racing—fluttering and buzzing in my chest. I figured it was dehydration and started drinking water. No change. I stepped outside for fresh air, but then my chest tightened. My arm and shoulder began to hurt. My breaths grew shallow.

I texted my wife, and we decided to head straight to the hospital. She quickly paid the bill, explained the emergency, and called my mom to pick up the kids. Praise God for His perfect timing—my mom had just moved out here.

Crying Out to God

On the short drive to the hospital, my heart rate continued to soar. I kept repeating the word given to me just the day before: “The Lord’s hand is not too short to save me.”

My wife prayed nonstop, though she later admitted she could barely form the words. Instead, she remembered Romans 8:26—that when we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes with groans too deep for words.

By the time we arrived, I was so weak that I needed a wheelchair. In triage, the nurse ran an EKG, then rushed out for a doctor. I learned later my heart rate was over 200. They called for “Trauma 2” over the intercom. My wife heard it all and felt the weight of fear—but also the peace of Jesus as she whispered His name aloud.

The Battle with Fear

When they wheeled me into the trauma room, five doctors and four nurses surrounded me. That’s when fear hit hardest: fear of dying, fear of never hugging my kids again, fear of leaving my wife alone. The enemy tried to steal my peace.

But I closed my eyes and prayed: “Lord! Is this it? Please, Father, I want to live out Your plan for my life.”

When I opened my eyes, peace flooded me. I couldn’t help but smile at everyone in the room. I knew something they didn’t—the Lord’s hand is not too short to save.

The Lord's Hand Is Not Too Short To Save

The doctors prepared to shock my heart, essentially “resetting” it. The treatment was painful, but I smiled and said, “Let’s do this.” Immediately, my heart rate dropped back to normal.

My wife later told me she heard the exact moment it happened—the racing thud over the monitor suddenly slowing to a steady beat. She knew right then God had answered our prayers.

Later, when I asked the doctor about going home, he practically laughed. But by 11 p.m., he returned shocked: “Your heart is doing so well, the team has agreed to discharge you tonight.”

Exactly what I had prayed for. Exactly what I believed God would do.

God’s Bigger Plan

Looking back, my wife and I can see how God used this crisis to move in other areas too. We had been struggling to even hear back from my primary doctor about a sleep study—emails had gone unanswered all week. Yet the very next day after this incident, we received a reply, and an appointment “magically” opened up for this week.

It reminded us of Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

What began as fear turned into a powerful reminder that God takes even the lemons of life and makes lemonade.

Closing Praise

The enemy tried to take me out, but the Lord’s hand was not too short to save me. He gave me peace in the storm, healing in my body, and another day to live out His plan.

Amen! Praise the King for one more day.
