A Man of God Lives with a Spirit of Thankfulness All Year Long

A man standing in a city street with his hands clasped in prayer, eyes closed and smiling with gratitude. Above him is a warm golden thought bubble showing memories of his family, home, and faith. The background around him shows the stress of everyday life, while the text reads “Your blessings are still greater than your burdens.”
Even in the middle of life’s pressures, a man of God chooses to remember what the Lord has already done. Gratitude lifts the eyes, strengthens the heart, and reminds us that our blessings in Christ are always greater than our burdens.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Thanksgiving is coming up quickly, and I love this time of year. The excitement of seeing family and friends always gets me looking forward to all the work that goes into hosting, cooking, and preparing. I enjoy providing for people, and when the meal is finished, I love stepping back and watching others enjoy what I made. It fills me with purpose.

But this season is also the perfect time to slow down and take inventory of your life. I like to do that in prayer—because honestly, I forget things. I remember the first time I started thanking the Lord for everything good in my life. After about ten minutes of giving thanks, tears started to fill my eyes. I had so much I never took the time to acknowledge: the place I lived, the people who loved me, a reliable vehicle, the most beautiful sunsets. It was overwhelming.

And the truth is—each day that passes without tragedy is a blessing from God.This is where a Spirit of Thankfulness begins.

I want to encourage you this week to put on that same Spirit of Thankfulness. Let it drive you to your knees. Start listing out everything you’re grateful for, and let the Lord lead your thoughts. You’ll realize quickly—you’ll be thanking Him for a while.

Men, this is especially important for us.

As leaders of our homes, we’re not only called to live out a Spirit of Thankfulness—we’re called to model it. People are watching. Our families are watching. And what will they see?

A thankful believer is humble.

A thankful believer is peaceful.

A thankful believer is loving and puts others first.

And this shift in your heart will open doors to reach people you never could before.

Even in your everyday interactions, challenge yourself to go deeper. Instead of just saying, “thank you,” try, “I’m thankful for you.” It changes everything. It adds weight, purpose, and opportunity. It tells the world who you’re thankful to.

While most people treat Thanksgiving like it’s only turkey and football, we know better. A Man of God carries a Spirit of Thankfulness all year long—and what better way to show the world than to lead by example?

I am thankful for each one of you on this thread—especially those who encourage me and push me toward Christ.

So let me ask you—What do you have to be thankful for today?

Thank You Father for another day. Amen.

Colossians 2:6–7

“[6] And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. [7] Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
