Debt to Deliverance: Trusting God When Finances Felt Hopeless

Today’s testimony is brought to you by our Heavenly Father.
In this life, financial miracles are awesome. I believe the Lord knows how much of our daily lives is unfortunately dependent on money. Whether He provides it miraculously or not, everything my family needs still costs something.
As many of you know, I sold my business at the Lord’s appointed time. But because the bills were at an all-time high when it was sold, some of the debts were not paid off during the sale. I began negotiating with the debts that remained, and to my surprise, many of them were willing to work with me. One by one, they started getting paid off. Even the IRS negotiated.
A miracle in itself!
Working down the list, I finally came to my phone provider. Because of my success with the others, I figured they would be easy to work with. I was wrong. They would not drop one cent on the amount owed! I was shocked and even joked that they were tougher than the IRS. The representative apologized but explained that management would not change their mind.
I told them that my money was running out and that it would be in their best interest to work with me. Still, the answer was no.
Over the next few months, I dealt with their collection company. Their first email asked what I could pay, so I came in at 50%. Nope. I offered a little more. Nope. I tried one more time, and once again, they said no. Finally, I told them I wasn’t interested in playing games and asked them to just tell me their bottom line. Their response? The full amount.
I wasn’t surprised, but I was frustrated. I prayed, “Lord, I’m doing my best to handle this honorably to glorify You. As You can see, they don’t want to work with me. What do I do?”
I felt peace in that moment. I sensed God telling me to step back and not contact them for a while. Letting go of the pressure to negotiate was a major stress relief. I hadn’t realized how much it was weighing on me until I released it into God’s hands.
About a month later, I received an email from their accounts system. My first thought was, “Here we go. They’re taking me to court or placing a lien on something.” With a deep breath, I opened it.
To my shock, it said: “Kevin, we are pleased to inform you that your support representative has marked your ticket as resolved.”
Confused, I scrolled down and saw two words that left me in awe: “Account closed.”
Thousands of dollars forgiven. Completely gone. No settlement, no reduced payment plan—just wiped clean.
That’s my God!
What started as a season of frustration and financial weight turned into a testimony of God’s provision. He took me from debt to deliverance, reminding me that when I step back and let Him take over, He makes a way where there is no way.
I am still in awe of this whole thing. Truly, when we let go and let God, He shows up in ways we could never imagine.
Debt to Deliverance is not just my story—it’s His power at work.
Amen.
