John 11:40 (CEV)
Jesus replied, “Didn't I tell you that if you had faith, you would see the glory of God?”
I love experiencing miracles. There’s a closeness to the Lord in those moments—almost like I’m standing beside Him, watching His hand at work. It’s one of life’s greatest blessings.
When I think back to the very first miracle I ever witnessed, it’s impossible not to see the Lord’s fingerprints all over it. It happened eleven years ago, and I feel like the Lord has been urging me to share it.
My wife and I were sitting in a doctor’s office, our joy and excitement over expecting our daughter quickly turning to devastation. The doctor’s words hit like a knockout punch: “Your daughter’s condition is not conducive with life.”
Her kidneys were completely cystic, with only one barely functioning. Every word crushed us. I don’t remember much of what I said that day—if anything at all. My heart felt shattered. I didn’t even know how to pray, but I remember crying out for help. I threw threats at God, telling Him I’d never be the same again, never believe again. The God I knew wouldn’t do this.
Yet in the middle of fear and despair, something remarkable happened. Despite the doctors suggesting abortion, my wife and I wholeheartedly moved forward with planning her birth. Looking back, I realize it was the Holy Spirit leading us, even when we didn’t understand. Praise God for His plan, even when our faith felt shaky.
As the day drew near, my wife was induced. Fear and excitement filled the room—we clung to a small sliver of hope. The delivery was quick, and as soon as my daughter was born, she was whisked away for testing. I followed close behind, refusing to leave her side.
At one point, a nurse tried to stop me before an x-ray. With tears in my eyes, I told her, “I’m going in there.” Instead of pushing me back, she handed me protective gear. I suited up like the doctors and held my little girl’s tiny hand through every test.
And then, the miracle unfolded before my eyes. Test after test came back: Passed. Passed. Passed. The kidney that was supposed to be failing was somehow working well enough for her to survive. The condition that was “not conducive with life” no longer had the final say.
God did.
Today, my daughter is just a few inches shorter than me. Next week, she turns eleven years old. She is healthy, vibrant, and a living testimony of God’s power. Every time I see her, I’m reminded of what Jesus said in John 11:40—when we have faith, we see the glory of God.
God showed us that even in impossible situations, He is still at work. My daughter is living proof that miracles happen when we trust Him.
John 11:43–44 (CEV)
When Jesus had finished praying, he shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” The man who had been dead came out. His hands and feet were wrapped with strips of burial cloth, and a cloth covered his face. Jesus then told the people, “Untie him and let him go.”
Just as Jesus called Lazarus from the grave, God spoke life over my daughter when doctors declared there was none. Faith to see the glory of God isn’t just for Bible times—it’s for us today.
