2 Corinthians 5:16
"So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time, we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!"
Do you see the world differently now compared to before you were a believer? It's a natural shift that begins to happen as we grow in faith and the veil is lifted from our eyes. The world’s standards no longer hold the same weight. We’ve been given a new set of standards—God’s standards—to evaluate everything we encounter. If it measures up, great. If it doesn’t, we don’t need it.
Think about how we sometimes judge success:
“The new people drive a really nice car, they must be successful.”
“They look like the perfect family with their nice clothes and well-behaved kids.”
That’s using the world’s measuring stick. And while those things aren’t wrong—in fact, believers can absolutely have them—evaluating someone based on their car or home misses the mark.
As Paul said, look how differently you now view the Lord. You see His hand everywhere. You notice His love in action. Why? Because you’re tuned into the Spirit. You obey when He leads.
Much different than believing in just a vague “spirit in the sky,” right?
So let us always use what the Lord has equipped us with to evaluate what really matters in this life. We are not strangers—we are brothers and sisters in Christ. Each of us has been gifted with something that can serve others in the Body. Let’s not be ashamed of that. Let’s be bold.
Because our Father created us according to His standards and declared us “perfect” in Him.
Leave behind the world’s shallow metrics. Embrace a life that values what God values.
