Acts of the Apostles 2:42-43
[42] All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. [43] A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.
Miracles.
What is your first thought when you hear someone say “miracle” or “they had a miracle”? Doubt? Confusion?
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who do not see miracles or feel like they don’t experience them. Why is that? I mean, if God truly loves us all, wouldn’t He want us to experience the miraculous?
Yes—He does. He wants you to see His handiwork.
Here is the truth of the matter: if you can’t see the miraculous side of being a follower of the Lord, then something is obstructing your vision.
Doubt is an amazing blinder. So is a lack of understanding.
Your vision begins to change through your commitment to community. In this Godly design for us, we become open to witnessing His power. Small groups are powerful for this. Getting to know each other, encouraging one another, and praying for each other—this is often where miracles begin.
Experiencing miracles as a Christian isn’t just about witnessing the big, undeniable moments.
It starts with being in a position where your eyes are open to see what God is already doing.
What is a miracle? What are signs and wonders?
The obvious ones are healing and restoration, just as we see Jesus and the apostles doing. Those are incredible to witness. You can see it in the eyes of those who are healed and restored—it’s real, and they are experiencing God’s love.
But there is also provision.
When we trust that the Lord has our best interests in His perfect plan, we begin to recognize it. Receiving money, supplies, a shirt, shoes, a suit, having a meal paid for, or even a word of knowledge that hits exactly where it needs to—these are miracles too.
Understanding this is the start of your eyes opening. Now you begin looking for them… and you realize they were there all along.
To witness or experience a miracle from the Lord, you first have to believe that He can do it.
It’s a popular thought that miracles don’t happen anymore—or at least not the same way they used to. Honestly, there’s some truth to that, but not for the reason most people think.
The main reason is this: we lack faith.
Our God is the same God we read about in the Gospels. His capability has not diminished.
Our comfort level has increased.
We don’t depend on the Lord’s provision the way we are meant to. When we rely on our own understanding and capabilities, our vision becomes limited to what’s right in front of us. We lose focus on the things promised to us that are not of this world.
Experiencing miracles as a Christian requires faith that goes beyond what you can see, touch, or control.
Rest in His promises. Open your eyes.
You may realize you’ve been living in a life full of miracles all along.
Thank you, Father, for one more day. Amen.
John 11:41-43
[41] So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. [42] You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.” [43] Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!”
